Tanzanite is the blue and violet variety of the mineral zoisite.  Only found in Tanzania, in a very small mining area near the Mirerani Hills.

David trained as a scientific and medical instrument maker in Cambridge in his younger years, subsequently as an aircraft engineer. Importantly this provided him with a unique perspective on precision manufacturing which he then applied to jewellery making.
