Black spinel is a rare gemstone of hard vitreous magnesium aluminium oxide or magnesium aluminate. Specifically, black spinel is one of the rarest minerals from the Spinel family, the most famous being the black Prince’s ruby. Due to the crystal structure, the name derives from the Latin spina, little thorn. It’s hard, sharp facets give this necklace a fantastic sparkle.
Gemstones are a lifetime passion. David & Nicola have both studied at the internationally recognised Gem-A and have passed the prestigious DGA. An extensive stock of beautiful diamonds, sapphires, rubies & emeralds is available. Importantly, we will gladly show you a selection and discuss and explain the technical and aesthetic considerations. Without a doubt, the design & stone you choose will be unique and beautiful.
