Tahitian pearl, Labradorite & Sapphire necklace

Fine quality Tahitian pearls. Each is perfectly round, 8 to 9mm, in a beautiful range of colours. Each has a lovely surface finish and lustre. This pearl is not dyed but formed in the black lip oyster. You can find out more about the fascinating subject of pearls.

They are interspaced with the 3mm sapphire & 6.5mm labradorite beads.

A rare variety of natural sapphire is known as colour change. Therefore, it exhibits different colours in a different light. Colour change sapphires are blue in outdoor light and purple under incandescent indoor light. Additionally, they are green to grey-green in daylight and pink to reddish-violet in incandescent light.

Labradorite is a feldspar, like a moonstone, the name coming from the first discovery in Labrador, Canada, in 1770.  A variety of the feldspar-group mineral orthoclase. During formation, orthoclase and albite separate into alternating layers. When light falls between these thin layers, it is scattered, producing the phenomenon called adularescence. Therefore, these beautiful beads show various ever-changing colours, from blue to green to gold.

It is secured with a sterling silver ball catch and is notable for being strung on a 20 “multi-core beading cable, which makes it very durable.
