Platinum diamond rub-over set contemporary engagement ring. Handmade individually in David Ashton’s London workshop, this design combines precise traditional bench work with a clean, contemporary character. We use only fine natural diamonds, never lab-created diamonds. Their fine colour, clarity and cut allow light to return beautifully through the stone, giving the diamonds the brightness, brilliance and lively sparkle that make a well-proportioned natural diamond so captivating.
David favours rub-over settings because there are no projecting claws to catch on clothing. The setting is secure, smooth and practical for everyday wear, while helping to keep the gemstone cleaner and making the ring exceptionally easy to live with. Platinum is naturally white, requires no plating and work-hardens with wear, making it an excellent precious metal for jewellery designed for everyday life.
David and Nicola are both DGA-qualified through Gem-A, and gemstones are selected with close attention to natural beauty, colour, clarity, cut and suitability for the design. We use only natural diamonds and natural gemstones; we never use lab-grown diamonds. Our precious-metal bullion is recycled and responsibly sourced, and our diamonds and gemstones are sourced under our strict conflict-free standards.
